Get actual stainless cleaner. I use Weiman’s.

Weiman’s hasn’t helped. It almost looks like the finish has come off in those spots but there isn’t even a fingerprint resistant finish on the product.

Note that "stainless steel" is technically known as CRES -- corrosion-resisting steel. How corrosion resisting and to what chemicals varies with the composition of the steel. If the recommended residential products don't achieve the desired result, then more aggressive tactics are needed. The goal, however, must include not changing the brushed pattern of the surface. Hence chemical means are preferred over mechanical means.

Phosphoric acid based auto body cleaners sold to the body shop trade will usually clean steel surface corrosion. Although a mild hazard when diluted, safety directions must be observed. In particular, gloves, goggles, ventilation requirements aren't only for lawyers. As I recall, Coca Cola had/has some phosphoric acid in its composition, so one might try that as an experiment pending visiting a auto parts dealer. The products have names like "metal prep," or "metal conditioner."

Bar Keepers Friend is citric acid based and safe for household use. FYI, always test on a less visible area of your appliance beforehand to make sure it does no damage.

I'd clean my range top and still have discolored spots on it. I bought The Pink Stuff (for something else) and used it on my range top and it looked brand new again. I was so surprised I took this pic to show my sisters. Right half is cleaned. Left is not.

I'm guessing a starch stain, like what shows up in stainless steel cookware sometimes when cooking beans or potatoes. Do try vinegar first, as it's probably already in your panty & is non-abrasive. BKF will work too, if you want to try to find the soft scrub version instead of the more abrasive powder.

I had something like that on a relatively new KitchenAid range. Nothing removed it and it got progressively worse over time. Same thing happened to a friend with a KA range. Hopefully yours is a different brand and it's not that problem. That issue, along with a couple others, made me decide I'd never buy another Whirlpool product.

Mine is a GE and I’ve only had it for 6 months. I’m wondering if they’ll work with me on the warranty because I sure as heck didn’t cause this.
