Front Porch Help

Hi, I just put in a new sidewalk and will be adding a coppery color bay window roof. Now, I need a new light fixture, mailbox and address plaque. Please tell me some ideas you may have. The one address plaque that I really like may be too big, but it sure is fun. Thanks!

I would stick to a copper type address numbers and mailbox. However, your walkway looks very uneven and an ankle breaker to me. Hopefully you will be evening this out.

It’s not quite done. This is while they were laying it out.

There are plenty of items that look interesting but are not appropriate to use. The address plaque design doesn't appear to be a good fit for your home.

Not sure why you are adding copper to a bay window that doesn't sit comfortably on the face of your brick home. It will only draw attention to the bay.

In terms of where to spend money, I would have changed the posts on the porch to wall brackets to support the roof overhang. Hard to imagine there's any room to clear the door swing without having to step off the porch with those posts.

Interesting walkway, not consider eliminating some of the lawn.

You’re right, the address #s you posted is fun, but I think too fun (and contemporary) for your cute little brick house. I will second the copper idea, or something simple in black iron. Will you be using real copper that will patina for your roof? It will look nicer and more appropriate than something that will remain a shiny orange hue, esp on your classic house. I also like BeverlyFLA’s ideas re roof brackets and plantings. Good luck!

It is cute, but that house number plaque belongs on a MCM house, not a Cape Cod.

Hi, I removed the old banisters that were on both sides. And, yes, the address plaque is too contemporary for my house. Great suggestion to remove the poles in the front. The copper roof is not really copper, but it is that color to soften the white. I got a bay window to open up the inside of the house a bit. It seems to help. I wonder how hard it is to change the posts out? These have been on the house since 1949. Any ideas for the mailbox? Also, do they seemto squished together? Thanks.

Such a GREAT house! Can you attach your mailbox to your house or does it have to be on the street? We got our mailbox from Rejuvenation years ago - for the address, we went with French style ceramic house numbers as the plain black didn't show up very well (below is a pic from Schoolhouse which is somewhat similiar to what we have)

It can be attached to the house. It’s there now in the picture I posted. It’s dark. I need three items: light, address, and mailbox.

I want to know if I can move the position of the mailbox from its current position. The light fixture choice really has me baffled too. I would have chosen real copper BUT it can destroy plants below apparently.

just curious why you are keeping the bay window? any who I would tie the mailbox into the copper color of the new bay window can you take a closer picture of the light location?

The window is relatively new - ten years. It opens up the very small interior room it’s attached to. I will load a closer pic

Here’s a closer picture. It all looks wrong.

I just got spooked looking at your glass door :-)

Having the address on the mailbox will be neat and tidy.

im leaning into cottage whimsy , and I like the numbers right on the mailbox that looks good

If I get a mailbox with numbers, then my light can be more substantial.

Make the porch deeper. Make the step and path the width of the porch.

Too late to change porch depth. The upgrade was just completed. Now I need to figure out the other parts.
