Light fixture question

Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone knows whether links could likely be removed from the tapered section of chains on this fixture to shorten them by about half? Obviously since they taper out they could only shorten so much. I know the upper part of the chain is typically adjustable, just wondering if anyone foresees an issue with shortening that tapered section. A licensed electrician would be installing the fixture.
All thoughts/opinions welcomed. Appreciate the help!
