Buy a couch which converts into a bed. There's no need to permanently divide the space.

@Rapp The only issue with that is that our elderly parents will stay here when they visit and need a lot more back support than fold-out couches offer 🙁

Curtain rods hung from ceiling seem the perfect solution for your space, they can provide some visual privacy and take up little room. also ensure the curtains are just a tiny bit up off the floor to reduce trip hazards.

I used book shelves in my studio apartment in basement to create privacy but had a beam running across the ceiling to anchor them to. For safety I would not do anything you cannot anchor securely to ceiling or wall.

You could look at placing the a bed in the nook next to the bathroom and then have a small loveseat at the end or two chairs at the end of the bed and TV mounted on the wall on an articulating arm. You could also look at adding a curtain in front of the bed for more privacy. If you have the room you could look at adding a day bed or reading nook as well. See our ideas below:
