How thick is the board and how thick is the wear layer?

It is 3 ply, 7 inch width plank, and 9/16 thickness/3 mill. I am not sure if you are able to sand that down at least once? I love the floor but am hesitant to spend that much for engineered hardwood.

This appears to sell for around $11.50 a square foot but Home Depot has hardwood flooring for around $5-$6. Why would you not buy the real thing if you are concerned about future refinishing?

It sells lower at our local store, and I like the look and style better with our custom cabinets. Just wanting to check on durability since the cost is high!
