did you have a soil test done.. to find out what the soil/tree may have needed.. or were you just winning it...

imo .. no tree ever needs to be fed... forests have been around since the time of the dinosaurs.. and no one ever worried about feeding the trees... they just take care of themselves ...

all that said.. i presume you did no harm.. except spending some money on fert that probably wasnt needed ...

we always remove dead branches.. and crossing branches..

i also dont think well established trees .. 2 years after planting.. need any water.. except in the most extreme drought ..

trees and conifers are not children.. they dont need to be fed.. nor clothed.. nor educated... they are some of the most carefree things you can have in your garden.. do make it harder on yourself.... and save your money to buy plants.. not feed soem marketing idiot.. who tries to sell you stuff you dont need ...
