Okna window replacement

We recently received a quote to replace 21 windows (original to our 1980s house) with Okna 800 series. The quote came in a little under $27,000. Has anyone compared the Okna 800 with double pane thompson creek windows? Our previous home had newly installed thompson creek windows that the previous owner paid for, which I believe at the time (2017) cost around $18,000. We didn't mind the thompson creek ones, but one of our issues in our new home is street sound. Is the Okna 800 worth the cost? In looking at the sample that the sales rep brought by, the Okna certainly seemed sturdy. I'm not sure if thompson creek would be much cheaper at this point with price increases. Thanks!

The OKNA 800's are far and away one of the best vinyl windows (actually windows in general), performance wise on the market today. Not familiar with Thompson Creek but I cannot imagine if even being in the same league with OKNA.

Okna does make a great window. Both the 600 and 800 series are wonderful offerings. I see Thompson Creek a lot where I am and its a pretty good window but the Okna is definitely a step above. What state do you reside?

Not very comparable products to be honest and if you are having noise issue, there are some additional glazing options from Okna (offset glazing of laminated) that you can deploy in the sleeping rooms for additional noise attenuation. Where is the home located?

The air tightness, thermal data, design pressure, and lack of a pocket sill are all product differentiators for the Okna in this comparison. The more airtight the window, the better the dynamic STC will be.

A pocket sill is automatic no go for me.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but can someone tell me the differences between the Okna 600 and 800 series? The Okna website's product page has a banner that says "page under construction", so I cannot find any information there. I read somewhere that the 600 has a more narrow frame allowing more glass, is that true?

While I prefer casements, I think my HOA dictates double hung, but I am checking on that, though probably I will have to go with double hung.

Miranda...similar products on the sash, different master frame.

Hoping for information less terse. What are differences that I would need to know in order to choose between Okna 600 or 800 series for this very expensive home improvement of windows?

Maybe it was dutiful in its use of words, but the answer is correct. The 800 and 600 series use the same sash (in the case of the DH) but the master frame is slightly different. In terms of what the means to you, very little. You will have mostly the same options with the 800 series having a bit stronger frame. As it pertains to choosing between the two, mostly comes down to an aesthetic preference for you. I think they both have the same suite of options available.

I wanted to get Okna 600s or 800s, but according to the Okna customer service, there is only one dealer/installer in my area. When I looked up that dealer/installer, they had terrible reviews. Even if Okna is a great window, if the installer is not good, it won't matter if Okna is good.

I looked into Sunrise windows, but I see they've been bought by "MI" which is Miter Brands, so Idk if that has affected their quality. There actually is a very good windows contractor close to me that carries Sunrise windows. Can anyone comment about whether Sunrise quality has been changed due to their acquisition by MI? Or any other brand suggestions for a top quality vinyl window?

I am about 40 miles north of Chicago. I know that the company HomeSealed in Milwaukee comments on here. I checked, and even though I am north of Chicago, I am still about 60 miles from HomeSealed so that is too far.

How big is the project? I would give them a ring and see if they will take the project.

The project is 4-6 windows right now. I am replacing them as they are going bad - they came with the house when I bought it, are about 25 years old and builder grade to begin with. Eventually all the windows in the house will be replaced, but I am doing it in increments (worst ones first) to make my cash outlay more do-able. They are double hungs which I have to use per the HOA, though there is no requirement for window brand.

Can anyone help with my other questions? Has Sunrise quality changed due to their acquisition by MI/Milgard? Or any other brand suggestions for top quality vinyl windows since there is not a good Okna installer nearby?
