Rouge, is it blooming now? I see alliums blooming too. If so, I'll state the obvious that is months ealier than its purple counterparts. The combination of the two is quite lovely.

Rouge what a lovely vignette! I agree - that art is wonderful! And is that a hydrangea llimbed up into a tree form? It all looks so lovely.

I do remember you posting about this, and I remember thinking I have to have some. And now I'm thinking I have to have some. I love my purple monkshood in the fall but love this early bloomer too!

Yep, I love Ivorine - the foliage alone is always magnificent and grows well for me in a very dry and shady wood.

Look at all of you with alliums - apart from christophii, all my early alliums are over. Waiting on the later summer bloomers now.

Ohh I like those. I just picked up some of the tall purple fall blooming ones, a rare find around here. Debating whether I should go back and get more...

You are seeing one plant.

What's not to love about that foliage, dark stems and foxglove like blooms! Foliage actually rather strongly resembles that of shredded umbrella plant, syneilesis palmata, a perennial I would not be without and holds up for the entire season with sufficient moisture.

Yep, mine does go into dormancy...The septentrionale is much more reliable for me than the later flowerers (napellus, carmichaelii, arendsii et al) as the dry shade of the wood can really diminish the later aconitums. Last year, I honestly recall no blooms at all on the napellus after a viciously dry, hot summer. I also have an early aconitum x cammarum ''Stainless Steel''.

Rouge, I believe you but how can one plant cover such a big area? I'm trying to imagine its form. You don't have to convince me, I'm just saying......

Hey @Marie Tulin Boston burbs z 6a, you might be overestimating the spread of this Ivorine. At this point in the season it is 30" wide.

@rosaprimula UK (Cambridge) Z8/9 I too have multiple of the later blooming monkshoods (including "Stainless Steel") but with now consistently inconsistent moisture in our location much more often than not the display of these traditional aconitum is mostly underwhelming. And so I value all the more this June blooming Ivorine.

I searched to find it in mail order nurseries in US

i found only one place in California and it was out of stock.

I’ve had this plant growing somewhat intertwined with a clematis on a trellis - if you had asked me before today what it was, I would have completely forgotten, even though I love Monkshood!

Marie, aconitum are not difficult to grow from seed. Within 2 years, you will have a good strong-flowering plant. Both of these seed companies have various white aconitums and will ship to the US.
