What started as new cabinets and appliances has become an entire first floor remodel. We intend to live here another 20 years, so we're doing what we want & like and worryinig less about resale. To that end, we're putting in red cabinets, black & white floor tile, and funky counters & backsplashes. Our old Golden Oak molding just does not fit, so we are converting to white around the windows, doors & floors. That's easy enough. However, on one end we have a 3/4 staircase up and an overlook to the family room 1/4 floor below. This makes for around 35 ft of railings and a whopping 30 balusters - all in golden oak. I suppose we can paint them white, but the balusters are kind of ornate and probably will not fit with the rest of the remodel. I've included pix of the railings. Any ideas would be welcome.
