I like knobs on cabinets. Super easy to use. You don't need large pulls on drawers.

As a side note, other than this one wall, there would only be three per wall if that matters. And this wall has an angled cabinet which is the only one with a 4th size. This could go to the smaller size if needed (shown below)

I know designers say not to use more than 2 sizes, but we used 3, and IMO it does not look too busy or bad at all. On uppers/doors we used only 6”, but on drawers we used 6”, 9” and 12”. Like you we wanted only one pull per drawer. Most are 9”, but we used 12” on some of the wide drawers…..it just looked better. Good luck!

What look are you hoping to achieve? Pick only three. I used knobs on all upper cabinets installed 4" above (or below) the corner and 7" pulls on drawers greater than 18" wide. Installed 5.5" pulls on smaller drawers, and installed 5.5" in pairs on a 36" drawer base. I mixed knobs and pulls on the drawer bases to keep things interesting. Top drawers have knobs and lower drawers have pulls. I agree that two sizes of pulls on upper cabinets is unnecessary.

If you look through the IKEA Kitchen Catalog (for inspiration), you see that it generally uses the same size handles for all drawers, regardless of width. It uses knobs for doors. I used 5-1/2"-center handles for drawers (15" and 18") and lower doors, knobs for upper doors. I like the consistency of having only two types of hardware. Uniform hardware also de-emphasizes the existence of varying sizes of doors and drawers.

This is a whole lot of hardware in a small space. What color are your cabinets and what finish is the hardware? If there is low contrast, white with chrome for example it won't look as busy, but if it is high contrast, say navy with brass, your kitchen is going to look like a hardware store.

You seem very committed to handles instead of knobs. In this case, I would pic the same size for all of the uppers and use a smaller size. Functionally, there is not need for a tall upper handle. I'd use those same knobs on the lower doors. Then you only have to consider whether you want the same size on the loads of small drawers you have.

I stressed and stressed about this decision! I ended up doing the same size for all drawers (9") even though I do have one drawer that is 18" wide. I have 30 and 36 drawers and didn't want too small of a pull on those. I did the same size for all upper/lower doors (7") even the shorter ones above the fridge and ovens. I did 5" on short doors that aren't really kitchen cabinet doors (they are but are more furniture I guess). They aren't installed yet, so no idea if I will love or hate the look lol! If the pulls all match in color /style, I don't think the size difference will show up much. And remember: no one else will ever study your cabinet hardware like you will.

Looking at your pictures, I think your proposed hardware is on the large size /a bit out of proportion; I'd suggest going down a notch across the board.

Not as easy as pulls, especially for aging hands. Hardware that works is Rule #1.

Maybe I'm just being argumentative, but I'd say keeping the proportion of handle-to-drawer equal across the board would be most effective.

Thank you everyone for your input. Knobs are not an option for me. Just personal preference but I think they look weird on such a tall door. I do like the look of the longer pulls on the full door but they are too large for the shorter doors.

My pictures were not to scale but I cut some tape to put on the cabinets that is the actual size of the pulls so I could get a visual. I'm actually thinking I can get away with three sizes now. The first picture has the larger pull 128MM that I thought I wanted on the bottom two drawers and the 96MM on the top. I'm thinking the 96MM is good.

Agreed. I think the same size handles in a stack of drawers would look best.

I'm definitely doing the same size within a stack of drawers.  I was just comparing the two sizes to see which looked best.

I think all of the uppers and any drawers that are more narrow should get the same size handle. I think the smaller size looks better, but you can chose whatever size you like best. But if you do pick the longer ones, then I would still do that same size on the cabinet above the range hood. It is not that much of a difference, so it would be fine.

Then you could do the longer pulls just on all the wider drawers. Except I would add one also on the sink drawer front, even if it it doesn’t do anything. I just think that will make it look finished and match with the drawer under the cooktop.

Thank you all for your advice.  I did end up going with four sizes and I'm happy with the end result.  I also did go down a size on the smaller drawer banks thanks to your advice.  I asked my contractor about adding on on the fake drawer front and he advised against it thinking someone would attempt to pull on it thinking it was a drawer and cause damage.

Still waiting on counters and backsplash but posting photos in the event someone else has the same question.  I've found reading old posts very helpful.

🙄 Oh brother. Who does he think is going to pull on it hard enough to damage it? You would have to really try to do any damage. You and your family certainly would not pull on it because you know it is fake.

Maybe one of your guests would think it is a tip out tray for sponges and pull on it? Are they dumb enough to keep yanking on it when it won’t budge? Yeah, I can just picture the scene now.

You have a get together. Everyone else is outside and your friend nicknamed King Kong sneaks into the kitchen when nobody is there.

Friend pulls on sink handle for some odd reason. “Hmmmm, that’s weird. Why won’t this thing open?”

Pulls a little harder. “Man, I really need to see what is in there!“

Starts pulling with full force, repeating several times in a row. ”Open up you stinkin’ drawer!“ “I know, I just need some leverage.“

Puts foot up on the front of the cabinet and then leans back pulling with their body weight. Kong finally rips the handle off. 🤪😆

That being said, the sink looks perfectly fine without the handle! The different sizes of pulls look great and thanks for posting for others who are looking for the same question.

Fwiw, Here is a comparison with and without the pull on the sink.

I am sure nobody is ever going to notice, or care, one way or the other. The only one you need to please is yourself. I like it with the handle slightly better, but that is just my personal preference. Someone else might like it better without.

Thanks for that very detailed scenario...lol!  Our wild party days are behind us so it'd probably be fine.  I think it looks good both ways.  At $30 a pop for the large handles though I'll just keep as is.  I know that's a drop in the very large bucket but already over budget so every little bit helps!

Oh Sheila, If you are still monitoring your thread, now in mid 2024 I have agonized over the same: knob, pull size ... even cup handles. From reading everyone's point of view, I've finally got my choices complete...sure, the 'all same everywhere' as some suggests would make it uniform, but boring. You made the correct decision(s) a year ago. PS: Like your flooring too!
