Lights through the mirror are great. You need the dimension from the wall to the sink right edge. How many inches exactly? Then you distance the left sconce same exact inches from left edge of sink. Do I love this? No.

Want my much better advice? Change the vanity to center sink. You are gaining no real function, and you will have a better look, if sconces at an eye level are what you want. Post the CAD drawing of the cabinet. the design just looks awkward, sorry. Yes, you can still have a stack of drawers, and we have no clue what sunk you have ordered, or its specs.

We have no clue the style of the bath either. You may be FAR better off with ONE large medicine cabinet, LIT variety.

We went back to a centered sink to solve for this--did not like any of the options for sconces with an offset sink, and didn't want an overhead light. We have a 42" vanity with two drawer banks, one on either side, and it's been terrific. Ours also has a drawer below the sink cabinet, which I've found I really like--we keep extra toilet paper and hand towels there so that the cabinet that hides the plumbing only holds cleaners. I can't tell the size of your vanity, but based on the notations it looks like it might be 48"? If so, you definitely can do a vanity with drawers.

This is a modern house, no trim, slab door cabs, simple design. I think the plumbing is already set, but I seem to recall there was some reason why I couldn't have drawers unless I off-centered the sink, and I can't remember the reason.

I wonder if I should put the medicine cabinet in front of the sink and then do a separate mirror to the left and put the sconces on either side of that. Ugh that would like weird, right?

Lights through the mirror just give you twice the light. No glare provided you purchase the right sconce.

I think the position of the sink was ill advised. I would have selected a vanity cabinet with ALL DRAWERS so I could center the sink. I think if you architect draws up the elevation of that wall/cabinet/ mirror and lights you will not be pleased with the outcome.

A vanity with all drawers would have provided you with MUCH MORE STORAGE.

Another option would have been to mirror the total wall and use a banjo countertop.

This all makes sense to me! I'm checking to see if I can still center the sink. The vanity has not been built yet, so that's not an issue; it's the plumbing that may be a problem if it's already been roughed in.

There is often about 3" of clearance in the back of vanities to allow for plumbing adjustments. Just make sure you get this right.

Hope you can get the drain relocated without $$$$$ upcharge.

I'd change that sink too. It is a ROYAL pain for the corners/flat bottom and you will find a lot of toothpaste and saving hairs will NOT slide to the drain.

Look at the "Studio" series in American Standard. You will get the rectangle, with a better slope .

Looking at the bath plan makes me want to see the whole house plan : )

I've never used a med cabinet in the bath. Nothing in there that can't go in a drawer. .....and the 3 inch ( shallow ) depth is annoying .

I would center the sink as well. Narrow drawers are perfect for all the little items you need in a bathroom for grooming. My master bathroom has 2-44" wide vanities with center sinks. The small drawers on either side are 9" wide and I store makeup and other small items with no problem. I also have mirrored medicine cabinets built into the wall for other items. (Sorry Jan, I love having medicine cabinets.)

Another alternative for the sink is the Kohler rectangular Caxton. Has a more modern look with a less steep slope and no hard corners.

Off centered sinks do not work with either sconces or a small vanity. Both of which you have. Small vanities are better to have centered sinks. And an overhead light. Sconces require a lot of negative space around them, and to not be shoved in a corner next to a wall. That creates hot spots and uneven lighting. You really do not have room for sconces, even if you center the sink.

Consider pendants dropping to sconce height in a modern home. I find sconces in a mirror to be too traditional. Or - as someone sugested - light the mirror for a modern seamless look. Don't do anything horizontal over. (Like mirror below - no personal experience with this brand)

I've got Duravit vanities that have a drawer cutout (u shaped) to fit around the plumbing. You could see if they have one in the right size and center the sink, or - put 2 side by side if that option makes more sense

To me in the pics they look like fluorescent tubes? which I'm not crazy about, and I don't know how glare-y they are, but they would be unobtrusive on the sides.

My concern about a light above the mirror is that I'll have shadows, unless there's a way to mitigate that effect with extra recessed lights.

Architect also suggested *only* putting the mirror above the sink and lights on either side of that, but to me that's a big Nope.

@just_janni That could work in theory, but I saw a light kind of like that in someone's house, embedded in the mirror, and I found it unpleasant to look toward it, even with a dimmer.

I like having a medicine cabinet, fwiw, but putting small things in drawers hasn't caught on with me. I tend to keep whatever I use each day and eve out on my counter in a stand. I like to see it from the front, not just from the top like in a drawer, plus some of that stuff is tall.
