How did it get to be July already?

I swear, it was just March and I was all happy it was warming up a bit. Now the forecast for tomorrow is 94 with a heat index of 106! Geez mareez! Had to go down to Publix today at around 2 p.m. and the car didn't even cool down before I got there, and it's a tiny car! Even with the air cranking, the dashboard thermometer said it was 101. I don't know if that was inside or outside, but it felt like inside!

Garden is going wild, and I can't seem to get out there before it gets too hot in the morning. Mosquitoes are too bad if I go out too early. I garden 5 minutes at a time - run out, do one tiny thing, then run back in. Had to water this morning, and luckily, there was a breeze blowing. I wanted to hold the hose up over my head!

I think the time has come for me to start parting with some larger plants. I just can't haul those things in and out for storms and freezes anymore. Of course, I still have small starts of everything, so I won't be losing anything but an aching back! LOL

How is summer treating y'all?

10:57 AM, Z9, Gainesville. 87/feels like 109. I can attest that is true. I just had to take a load down to the laundry room. Was going to walk, but once that heat hit me, I decided not to.

Ugh, it's just as brutal here. It was 84 at 6:30 this morning, according to my weather app.

I made myself cover up and mow the yard around 7PM. It wasn't too bad - the yard was shady by then.

I wish we'd get some rain...

It is really hot here too, I try to get the gardening and the walking done early in the morning. later on I just water what is newly planted.

My avocados in other years were ripening after the 4th of July, now they are ripening early and also the mangoes are ripening quickly. I have to work fast with the harvesting.

I would just like to say Ditto!

My brother asked me what happened to the pretty rock waterfall in the pond. Well it is so hot the vines have eaten it 😂 temporarily anyway. It is brutal out there. I have to pick my battles.

I did squander $10 on a new toy that seems to work. It is called Bug Bite Thing. It is a suction device that sucks the venom and saliva out after you get bit. It flippin works! It seems to remove enough that it stops the itching. It has worked on mosquito bites if I use it 2-3 times per bite. It sometimes leaves a little ring bruise from the suction device around the bite but it is a small price to pay. They seem to heal quicker when I am not scratching them. I tried it on an ant bite on my foot but couldn’t get good suction where the bite was. The mosquitos are insane and this little do-dad helps. I found it on amazon.

That's interesting, Joan. I use anti-itch cream (generic Benadryl) for insect bites. It works really well for me.

I have some July blooms. It looks like bromeliad blooming season has started. I did manage to remove the vines from the waterfall. The debris is still laying there in a huge pile. By the time I had everything cleared to mow, it was too hot. Oh well, there is always Monday. LOL

Here are my new blooms.

Check out this plant in my yard. I have always known these as house plants or maybe tiny little front garden borders. It is a tree here. It has the prettiest pink seeds. It‘s very messy as a tree but sort of cool and tropical looking.
