Beautiful landscaping! Can you post a picture from further back that shows the whole front of the house?

If you change out the windows, are you sure your old plantation shutters are still going to fit over them correctly?

That is the only window on the front I’ve only excluded the garage doors it looks small from the street but it is deep and two sories…..almost 3000 sq ft

I bought the house ten years ago and did extensive remodeling with the help of Houzz. That is when I installed the shutters.

What are you looking for the window to be made of? What do you want the interior to look like? Who is going to install the windows? Where do you intend to look to purchase these windows?

Maybe, but if you are replacing windows that needs to be your first thought and starting point. Everything else comes after that.

Those windows only need to be replaced if they are failing. No point in spending 100K on a cosmetic job if they aren't.

Okay, my husband is replacing them for various reasons. They are not energy effecient and they accumulate moisture between the panes among other things plus they are ugly. and we won’t be putting 100k into them. we only have seven windows.

Aluminum, Steel, Steel Look Aluminum? Narrow sightlines? Interior to be wood or the same metal?

In my intro I said wide sight lines (definitive). I’ve looked at many pics. I’m not sure about the inside appearance but I would like black if it works with the shutters.

Some window companies have different color options for the outside and inside. I’m not sure which companies you are considering, but that would be another question to ask (in addition to the standard ones).

It sounds like the windows you have are less than “inefficient”.

Here’s a house with black framed windows and what looks like white plantation shutters. It would probably look nice on your house.

Those are definitely the windows I like but the white shutters seem to detract from the overall wow factor. Don’t you think it would be more impressive without those shutters?

Actually, since I only have one window on the front of the house I could leave those shutters open all the time because that room is seldom used. The other windows wouldn’t matter because no one sees them from the outside.

Now, the question is, how will they look from the inside? I’m thinking it will be less problematic.

RedRyder, you may have the solution to that problem. We could make them a different color inside if necessary

Well, from what I’ve read, bronze is the way to go. I think it would work well with the brick. The interior could another problem. Choose wisely.

Mark, I totally agree. That is why I started this discussion. I need a lot of help to make a wise decision. I do think bronze is more attractive than black. I’m wondering what the cost differential might be?

Bronze is less expensive than black.

fyi Mark Brunner they make window framing with different finishes colors on outside and inside.

Hopefully the comments and photos will help you ask a lot of questions and look at the different options. Buying windows is a permanent decision and you want to be happy with them. Keep us posted on what information you get.
