Finally back, way behind, pleasant surprises.

My father-in-law had a successful and wonderful 100th birthday, one that his favorite local restaurant did on his birthday, and one on Saturday with about 90 friends and relatives.

Being away 6 days, I went from peak to many having finished up. However, the surprise was just how many seedlings began to bloom [a seedling peak] and the amazing beauty of many of them. Bud counts are generally 10-16, branching is good, colors are amazing, and most are quite tall with buds averaging 7-8 inches.

Today I'd like to show some of my favorite seedlings.

Love this one, Carman Renee x VT the Last Melon 1. 7" bloom, 13 buds, great color, 28".

Carman Renee x vt the Last Melon bicolor6", 26", 7 buds.

Carman Renee x North Wind Dancer [both of them] 7" 6 & 12 buds, Upper 20s tall.

The next two photos, 3 plants, are Kent's favorite Two x unknown. The white is quite white.

Wilson Spider x Carman Renee:

11 , 8 & 8 inches. They are diamond dusted. The photos don't do them justices at all.

VT Rose Rosy x North Wind Dancer siblings. All 7 inches. 6 to 11 buds. Bottom left has a thick cream edging.

VT Fondly Kin x Carman Renee 6, 26, 9 buds. One of the shorter ones.

I better stop here. More seedling and named varieties later.

Wow! I'm loving all the Carmen Renee babies! I think the one crossed with Wilson Spider may be my top favorite of them because the shape appeals to me. I think the VT Rose X NWD in the upper right of your photo looks fantastic. Congratulations on a nice bunch of seedlings. It's great that they are later bloomers.

Nice to see you back after a successful celebration. Now for your FIL's 101st next year.......I am particularly smitten with your first two seedlings of Carmen Renee x Vt Last Melon. I hope to see more of them as they develop. I presume they are winter hardy for you in ground........Maryl

I can see why you like the first two seedlings. The prominent veins add to the interest.

Congratulations on your father-in-law reaching that milestone! It sounds as though it was well celebrated by friends and family.

Your seedlings are so pretty. The Carmen Renee seedlings really stand out and I love those lavender colors!

I've lost count, Sherry. I did have about 30 or so but this year they have really popped and must be about 90-100. The hard thing is that I have so little space I plant a whole seed pod in one spot so end up with several in one space. Hard to keep them straight. I was going to do some more crosses this year but am overwhelmed and just haven't, especially when I still have a bunch more to bloom this year and many that will be waiting til next year.
