Pictures? Is this to pass inspection or for your own piece of mind?

It showed up on my home inspection report as a breach in the firewall in the garage. I purchased a fire foam and put over the sill plate that was exposed in 4 separate small areas in my garage where the wall is supposed to meet the ceiling. I had gone to home Depot and show them the picture and that's what they told me to use.

Hopefully they gave you the proper advice as I have not found them to be that knowledgeable.....................

Without more info, pictures and or a better description I could not make any reasonable suggestion. Other than being careful about box store advice. The problem is the guy you asked may have been the Zamboni driver cleaning the floors this week and chasing carts two week before. When it comes to fire blocking or protection I would want someone more knowledgeable potentially than a box store employee.

The drywall should extend down to cover the wooden sill plate on the interior.
