This is the other side of the island

I originally had these pendants installed but didn't like the looks of them once they were up.  They were 9" in diameter and hung 32" above the countertop.  Please give any suggestions for new ones!

What did you dislike about the pendants you had?

They looked cheap installed, the lights were crooked and that bothered me, although you can't tell very well from the photo 😅 I also wonder if a bronze would look nicer?  I couldn't decide and wanted to get some other opinions.

Hello! What do you think about these pendants? They can be in 2 different shapes and in 4 different colors.

What I don’t like about your original pendants is that the bulbs are exposed due to the clear glass on the bottom. My eyes cannot handle looking at the bulbs, even with the edison style bulbs. Plus the glass will need cleaning far too often. I am glad you removed those.

I think I would explore pendants that have a black and gold combination. i did this mockup by grabbing the first pendant I happened to see after doing an image search for “black and gold pendants”. There are so many styles you can choose from!

Also, please excuse my not to scale mockup. I am just awful at making the pendants look the correct scale to the island!

@rebunky thank you for the reply! I also did not want glass but didn't know if the lights were too imposing and large when it was all black.  Your mockup looks nice though and I like the combination of black and gold.  When I did a search for that I found these pendants.  

They are 10",10", 7" it says. 

What are your thoughts?

@mirodemi, thank you for your idea as well!  I don't like those pendants as well.  I really want a pendant with downrods so I don't have a kinked cord as well.

Here are some lights I like. I think I’d stick to white. With brass/ gold as the ceilings are lower and it will give it more of that open feeling…

I also think the first lights you had were hung too high. Hanging them lower down will give the room the illusion that the ceilings are taller.
