Unfortunately not an option. Ceiling is 9ft, so hoping for something overhead that will shine down and compliment the vanity fixture. Contractors are finishing up the rest of the house next week, so hoping to have them install something that can either tie into the wiring that runs to the fan, or back to the vanity light. I would be fine if the light switch turned on/off both the vanity light and something in the ceiling. I just need a little more light coming down from the ceiling closer to the wall opposite sink, or from the center of the ceiling.

Install a recessed light centered over the toilet and one centered over the sink. The 3 bulb fixture is actually too large for it's use. It's creating hot spots and not helping with the lighting in the rest of the space. It should go down to a single or double, with frosted shades, so the light goes throughout the space. All everything should be on dimmers.

The lighting does need to be replaced. Post a floor plan for better suggestions.

Nice choices on wainscoating, wallpaper, gold & white fixures. Either add recessed on a dimmer for low level ambient addition or change solid shaded fixture to translucent. For guest use that might be a nice light level as it is now.

Thanks for the responses and to @lisaam for the compliments. We are not going to replace the light fixture--we love it. We've solved the issue to our satisfaction (for now) with a Broan baffle upgrade that includes a light and a pass-thru for the fan. May not be to some peoples taste or standards, but wife's happy and it was $40 and 5 minutes. To lissam 's point, this is a guest powder room and there will be times, the previous lighting would be just fine. Pics to show the difference below. Cheers all.
