IMO the screen takes up the whole wall so the seting is great for a movie room

It's great. If you really want it to look less gigantic, a different color rug would help--right now the rug and couch merge into one luxurious blob. (I love how the rug pattern fits though!)

The screen is temp, not permanent lol definitely need furniture still for the sound stuff and will probably do a large tv or drop down screen

It's perfect for the intended purpose. I do agree with the other commenter about the rug color being too close to the color of the sofa however. If you just bought the rug and can't return it or repurpose it I suggest painting the walls a different color. The overall effect is monochromatic and the wall color just doesn't look like the right color against the sofa. I would choose something darker and a different shade since you're going for cozy.

I'd commit to a full-on media room and make it as coocoon-like as possible.

Currently borrowing the rug, it’s not new or staying necessarily. The only new thing is the couch, everything else is going and starting from scratch!

It's great and if it's what your family loves, than that makes it perfect. I'd suggest some sconces, artwork and a cabinet to house the technical equipment to complete it.

We think the big sectional seems to work well in your place. However you might look at some art and another rug to go with your space. At some point, look into making the screen or a drop down TV permanent as well. Here are some sectionals in rooms for our clients, along with a theater:
