I love seeing your presentations! They are always so interesting. I’ve never heard of the beef plant/tree. How long did it take for it to get big enough for you to pick edible leaves?

Interesting, you are always so adventuresome with food. And not a bad looking tree if you had time to keep it cut back given its potential size. I read 'fast growing' here although hardy. Fast growing in my coastal climate can often mean easily breaking limbs in storms, I don't know if that's true of this one.

Interesting. Makes me wish I had more land on which to grow more trees, Toona now included in my wish.

I had invite a few friends for a BBQ. A lady friend pointed to the tree and asked, "what kind of tree is that?" I was busy with the fire, I just pointed to the label hanging on the tree which says " toona sinensis " and said the leaves were edible. She picked a few and chewed and said, "interesting flavor, it kind of tastes like beef!"

I would not be surprised that this tree could be a secrete ingredient in those Impossible Burgers.

plllog, as usual, I like to have the slices of tomatoes 1/2 dehydrated so they would not make the bread soggy, and I like the bread only toasted on one side. The salad greens were fresh picked from the garden, not washed (it rained the day before). So the whole assembly was not too sloppy.

I have a beef with those guys making fun of serious cooking topics. I am going to make sure they get PUN ished.

I planted the two seedlings three years ago, this is the summer after two years, giving me enough leaves to play with. I have been cutting them back to be under 5 feet tall.
