Forget looks until you know your inches. Are you removing a tub and replacing with a shower?

Minimum width ( code ) space for a toilet is 15 inches, center of toilet to any wall or other obstruction.

Draw/measure your bath, as is, with all dimensions in feet and inches, and take a few pictures.

Show the entry, window location....toilet location etc.

Yes we have a tub! good point on the sizing with toilet, it's pretty squished there. The window should not be a problem at all it's tiny window above toilet.

Do not wall in a shower in an already tiny space . I would do like in the pic you posted to keep the shower from be a black hole. Just no tile on the toilet side unless the exact tile on the shower walls. BTW I like all 12 x24 tile for bathroom floors and shower walls in a stacked layout matching grout to keep things simple and also you will like the simple space much longer .

That's what YOU like. And a good interior designer doesn't necessarily do what she/he likes but what works for their client. And what YOU like doesn't fit with every house. In my house it would make the house look out of place.

Design the bathrooms and other rooms so the house feels cohesive. And don't try and make a 1920's or older house lose it's character by getting rid of any of it's character, or try to create character in a modern, contemporary house . Honor the house you have.
