A number of early flowering perennials will have another go-round once the nights start to get longer (short day plants)...so lewisias, auricula, welsh poppies. hardy geraniums, armeria, alstroemeria, campanulas, eritrichium, sisyrinchium, lemon blossom (to name a few which come to mind) are all having a little late summer bloomfest. It took me quite a long time to realise that darkness was one of the triggers for flowering and by tweaking growth cycles with artificial lighting (maintaining a vegetative growth cycle), I have had a bit more success taking late summer cuttings for overwintering.

I couldn't say whether hostas are sensitive to day-length so my post might be completely irrelevant

Thanks Pieter. None of mine have ever bloomed again on the same petiole. It’s always a new one, sometimes on a different eye. But it seems to happen every year. Last two years it was Vulcan and Wheee. This year Rainbows End, Hanky Panky and Blue Ivory. All looking good!

I think my blooms on Winter Snow and Island Breeze will open. In the next 4-5 days,we are expecting high 70s and 80s says the weather person. 👍🏽
