Move TV from Fireplace?

Hi-

My TV has always been mounted above the fireplace. It’s where the prior owners had it. Now after 2 years I feel like I want to move it to the right (white wall) and put possibly a larger mirror where the TV is.

Why? I want the TV to be at eye level, it’s currently high up. Plus with our sectional, currently only one side of the couch truly gets prime TV seating without neck strain.

Disadvantage is not being able to see living room TV from dining area or bar stools.

Note: toys, being relocated to new playroom.

Thoughts?

Yes I would move it. It is very high. I would not put a mirror - there's nothing for it to reflect - get some art about the size of the firebox

We think moving the TV to the wall on the right, would work well. You might put the TV on an articulating arm, that way you can pull the TV off the wall and you would still be able to see if from the dining room and bar stools.

Absolutely move the TV to the wall on the right with a console table or cabinet below it. Think about a beautiful art work instead of mirror over the fireplace unless the reflection is great. Add a long, low cabinet or a set of bookshelves all the way across with room for baskets for kids' toys.

Get a Frame TV to show art when you are not watching TV. It will look great there. No need for a console if you put a niche in the wall behind the TV. Put a bench under it.

Try placing the TV, over a long (low) console, on the blank wall across from the windows. This seems like the perfect space. Then just have it on an articulating arm and it can be pulled off the wall, and turned, for viewing elsewhere in the house.
