She lists some basic tests you can do at the slab yard and additional test if you are able to get a sample piece to take home. You want to understand what properties your actual quartzite has. Some quartzites can be hard, but porous, so those need to be sealed regularly.

The quartzites that seem to have the most issues here are the ones that are "white" and have that desirable marble look.

Also don't believe everything that the sales people at the slab yards tell you. They might be ignorant and/or shady when it comes to the actual composition of your slabs. Buyer beware.

I have used Taj Mahal quartzite in 2 kitchens, a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen. Those 9 Taj Mahal slabs have been "bulletproof" and they were purchased years apart and in different states, so not like I just got lucky with a batch of good slabs. Over the years I only remember one person having an issue with Taj Mahal counters on this forums.
