I agree why not have one built to your specs and since I do not see your space or the two choices I have no idea what you should do. What your style is IMO drives the style of pergola and having one built to work with the size and the style seems to me to be the perfect choice. I do say that pergola shown from fnmroberts seems to be out of scale for the home. but the idea is good

Just offering an additional view of our pergola to show perspective to the house. The view Patricia believes to be out of proportion is a close-up of the pergola with the house in the background. Pergola is 9’ tall and 8x12 - house over 20’ tall and 40’ + wide.

I would not recommend Hanso based on my experience.

I paid $12,513.49 upfront in March 2026 for a pergola and waited nearly six months without ever receiving it. Communication was very poor, and I rarely received any meaningful updates unless I contacted the company myself. Each time, I was told there were supply chain or distributor delays.

Eventually, I was told I may need to wait another couple of months with no guarantee of delivery, so I requested my money back.

What was especially concerning was seeing multiple BBB complaints from other customers describing very similar experiences with delays, poor communication, and having to repeatedly follow up for answers.

Based on my experience, I would look at other pergola companies before ordering from Hanso.
