I don’t think kitchen appliance brands must match. The color should. It’s nice if handles match on frig & oven,

My mother has a white GE dishwasher, brushed chrome Whirlpool cooktop, white Whirlpool double wall oven, black Frigidaire countertop microwave oven, stainless steel Kenmore range hood (from 1975!), and a KitchenAid white refrigerator. No one who has ever visited or had a meal at her house has complained or run screaming away.

Note: the wall oven, cooktop, and original KitchenAid dishwasher were avocado until replacements between 2001 and 2005.

Nobody is going to notice, or care.

All of my appliances are from different manufacturers…Thermador range top, Miele double ovens, Bosch paneled dishwasher, and SubZero paneled fridge. So, the handles on the ovens and fridge don’t even match.

Get the best appliances you can afford. Matching brands, or handles is unimportant.

No over-the-range microwave oven with convection received a CR recommendation. How about combining a recommended double-oven gas range with convection in the bottom oven (GE Profile PGS960YPFS) with a conventional OTR microwave oven (Whirlpool WMH53521HZ)?

I think those avocado appliances could be worth something today!

Ps… seems that a lot of people find this knob to be difficult to get used too.
We use the microwave more than the stove.
Any suggestions on the best OTR microwave/ convection oven?

I mean the knob on the ge profile.
I have thought about the double oven but not sure if I want to give up the storage drawer

In CR's tests the Whirlpool WMH78519LZ performed the best but not well enough to earn a recommendation.

The Samsung NX60T8751SS Flex Duo Slide-in Gas Range has double ovens, convection, and a storage drawer.

Like others, I have all different brands depending on the function - Bosch, Thermador, SKS, etc. Pick what works best for you!

I am in the exact same situation!

I bought a house with crappy appliances a couple of years ago. I replaced by stove immediately with a GE but didn't get around to replacing the over the range microwave. I'm now ripping out the backsplash and going to replace the microwave before the new backsplash tile goes up. I too did not like that little dial on the popular GE microwave. I do like to have the same brand for all appliances so I ended up picking the GE 7196 model that doesn't have the little dial.

Unless you have no other viable space, Over the Range microwaves are not recommended. They don't permit stuff cooking on the cooktop to vent properly, and they can be hazardous to reach up into, especially for younguns or shorter people wanting to use the device.

The GE JNM7196 doesn't have the "little dial" because it is NOT a convection microwave. All the GE OTR convection microwave ovens that the OP was asking about have the dial.
