You need more sanding. Another coat alone will not take out the gritty sock catchers. Can you tell by the odor and drying time whether it was water or oil? Have you looked through your trash for product cans or receipts? I've had to do this in the past with contractors.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. We just had a similar problem where the floor guys did a horrible job. It felt gritty and many other issues.

We finally had a better guy come in, he said it definitely wasn’t sanded enough. We had him do repairs and re sand and refinish.

It sounds like you need more sanding as well. Best of luck.

This or that - redo the floors and hope the outcome is better and be out of the house for maybe another two weeks or buff the floors, recoat and move back in?

thank you for your kind responses-i found out polyurethane was Pullman and a different company is offering to buff and apply 2 coats of watr based Bona - will that be safe for the wood? i keep hearing different things about applying 2 different brands of poly on floors...

I hope someone can answer that for you, I don't know that. The new guys totally resanded ours and then 3 coats of waterbased Bona.

they came this moring , bufffed and applied 1 coat of Loba WS satin finish and left and said they are not coming back tomorrow - i called and said that is not what i paid for- they said they can come back on wednesday but my appliance are being deliverd Thursday/Friday and i am nervous the floors won't have time to cure-

if iask for Loba Supra At as final coat will that be enoughto harden and protect floor?

i now have to plead for them to come back and just apply the second coat

how can a company who agreed to providing 2 buffs and 2 coats of WB poly only give one? they are saying that they only do 1-they took money from me to do 2

Did you get all of your floor requests in writing? If you did, you can take them to small claims court. Hindsight is always clearer. I suggest, for all future projects, you get everything specifically stated in a signed contract. Sorry to hear of your predicament.

You should have a written contract to stand by as mentioned. Verbal contracts are a no, no.

I do have it in writing where it states

If socks are snagging on the floor don't think you have any option except to have the floor stripped and redone. No amount of buffing will take care of grit embedded in the floor.
