Will shoji white cabinets go with alabaster walls?

Will shoji white cabinets be enough of a contrast with alabaster walls/trim? We are leaning towards alabaster for walls, trim, doors, and ceiling as we live in the pnw and want a white that will feel warm rather than stark. I like the look of shoji white but I’m not sure if it goes with alabaster or if it isn’t enough of a contrast. I’m open to suggestions but don’t want anything gray.

I usually find 10 points difference in LRV is enough to show contrast. The difference between Alabaster and Shoji White is 8, so it's borderline. When it comes to things like this you will be the best judge of it since it's your house. It may be enough difference for you or it may not be. How it looks also depends on the lighting present in the space. The only way to find out is to sample. Paint a board mostly with Shoji White and put a border of Alabaster around it and see what you think. Another option is to paint both the cabinets and trim Alabaster. Alabaster is a popular color and a good choice in low light areas. Pure White is another popular SW white that is a little lighter than Alabaster if you want to try it against Shoji White.

Why not just do the cabinets in Alabaster too?

Shoji White isn't white, it is light beige/tan and has quite a bit of yellow in it.

I think the cabinet color is the most important one ... a lot easier to repaint walls compared to cabinets.

The wall color in this photo is Shoji White ... not really white, specially if you have any brighter white anywhere in the space.

A lot depends on the light in your space. Accessible beige is especially influenced by light and can be surprisingly dark. Do you have an inspiration room? Are all the walls, doors and trim that can be seen from the kitchen going to be painted the same color? What color are the floors?

We just got floors done last week. 4 inch white oak with bona naturalseal. We are hoping for a light and airy feel. all doors/trim/walls will likely be the same color. I originally planned on doing the kitchen cabinets the same color as well but I am somewhat worried it’ll be too much of the same.

What color are the counters? There was just a long thread about someone painting their cabs shoji and they were disappointed that the cabs looked too warm and the counters looked too cool. Whites are hard!

Pick your paint last. It's the "easiest" to find. I know choosing paint isn't easy, but there are so many different colors of paint but countertops, rugs, etc. are more limited. When you pick paint first, you end up boxing yourself into a corner with other choices.

Believe the Studio McGee spec home kitchen cabinets are Accessible Beige. It looks great with the natural stone and wood. Of course there is a lot of natural light also. I believe the walls were Natural Tan - I couldn't find that anywhere, just thinking about it from memory.

Haven’t picked countertops yet. I have a bunch of samples but most of them are on the warmer white side.
