I agree. Brick or stone at the foundation only all the way around the house, one material for the house itself (lap siding or shingle)

I never like brick and stone mixed I do agree if you use either they need to look like they actually are part of the structure not just slapped on with no context and for sure on all 4 sides. I would not do shingle type siding at all . IMO the house has some elegance and shingle siding IMO not elegant at all. I think a nice lap siding everywhere would be great with either the stone or the brick. The fewer materials on an exterior the better .

Your image has lap siding, board and batten siding, shingle siding, and brick. Too many different sidings. Choose.

Don't go too crazy on the number of different materials.

So many of these houses today look like someone added on -- in a not so good way. This part of the house has a pleasing shape, although the finish materials and some details might change.

The garage might have been detached, then the house was expanded filling in the space between.

Of course, in my made up world, the garage would have been behind the house and not in front.

So I wonder if that connection between the house and garage, and the design of the garage itself could be improved.

@Jr1513 Are you open to some changes -- maybe more than just finish materials? If so, attach the floor plans.

I would substitute brick with stones/stone veneer.

Design all sides of the house with equal attention. Many times elevations other than the front elevation look like the forgotten child.

Stone up to the window sill was a mid-century thing on single-story houses that never looked good, and it’s back but now on two-story houses. Why?

And nobody has done stone foundations for over a century, why is it a look now, especially done in ways that never looked like foundation?
