If it were me, I would not try to fill the corners with stuff when a larger media cabinet would solve the problem - but you could try pulling the tree out of the corner a bit and then maybe floating a nice chair in the other corner?

You want help but you don't want to change the biggest issue? How does that work? You need a larger cabinet under the TV the TV needs to be lower and fake plants need to be in the garbage. Look at Ikea Besta for decently priced components that can be put together to make a wall of TV some storage and a bit of display look like a custon design .

The only thing that would fix this is lowering the tv and a larger console. Adding more stuff will not fix the main issue.

Not sure why you don't want to fix the main issue, but one solution, if still available, would be to purchase a second console and place them side by side. Then add 2 lamps on the sides of the console.

If all wires can be hidden, you can use a shelf.

I do like the idea of a taller plant and I will look into that! Cost is not too much of an issue, I guess I was just hoping to also play into the tall height of the ceilings rather than sticking another tv stand too low to the ground but I do see the need for that

If you want to go higher, you should definitely put your plant in a raised planter.

Also, IMO, you can add a minimal design over yout tv....nothing too busy, but a little bit. I used a live branch over a tv in a recent design (added nice height and texture)

I would find a better place to put the existing credenza. It can go anywhere - bedroom, playroom, office, behind a sofa, foyer, another living room wall, dining room sideboard, …

I hate to get rid of furniture I love. I had some old high quality uncomfortable dining room chairs that were like new. I didn’t want to use them in the new dining room. Someone offered to buy them for $10 apiece. Popular stores are selling very similar chairs for $350-400 apiece. I decided to keep them and design a spare room around them. Ha!

What if you place the plant half way between the corner and the TV. (Scoot it closer to the TV.) To the right of the TV place a large poof or round ottoman of some sort. Perhaps bookending the console will help give it the effect of being a longer piece. I don't know that this is a great solution, but I'm just trying to toss something out there. I totally sympathize with not being able to return it and not wanting to drop cash on a new one. (Of course, it would be ideal if you could find another place for it in your home.)

What would it look like with the tv actually sitting on it? Perhaps buy a piece of wood shelving and place it on top (secure with L brackets on the back) to extend the unit. I would move the tree to the side closer to the window and place other plants/plant stands around it. Perhaps a basket with blankets on the other side to balance it out?

Beverly, I did like your photo reference and it helped put it in perspective. I didn’t think about the height of my tv either. I am leaning towards buying another console or two similar on the sides of the tv stand at the moment. Thank you everyone for the feedback it is much appreciated! If I don’t lower the tv I am also considering a shelf above the stand rather than moving the tv down

I think it would look good lower. Does your tv have legs? You could try it directly on the stand with the legs and see how you like it at the lower height for a few days before committing

I think you are concerned needlessly. Here is a tv with space above it. No issue at all.

2 similar ones on the sides are not going to look good, in my opinion.

Here are my recommendations

1) Find photos of rooms you like. Inspiration photos.

2) Place them in your ideabook and post them here.

3) Decide what tv height is ideal for you. For most people, that would be center of tv at 48".

(Example, if you like the tv at its current height and that works for you, fine.)

4) Look for an inexpensive console, where the tv is around 2/3-- 3/4 the width of the console. So, if you tv is 60" wide, your console should be around 80- 90 wide. There is flexibility here. (it can be 2 consoles pushed together. It can also be a floating shelf (if no wires showing). The console also should work with your design goals.

The console you have can likely be used somewhere else in your home.

Regarding the height of the TV: If you put your feet up and bend your knees, sometimes knees block the view. So test out the height in different positions: Feet up, laying down on side, slouching, floor, moonpod, etc.

Another option is to build a sturdy base for the credenzas.

I think the TV would look good lowered. Did it come with legs that you can attach and use as a stand. I would not be concerned about the space above the TV. If you are going to invest in new furniture, I would purchase a new, wider console instead of adding on to the current one. Perhaps you can find something nice used so you don't have to break the bank after just having bought one.
