I love Besta from Ikea for great ideas for an accent wall with no FP. You can put the pieces together to make it custom for you and how you want the wall to look, you can have the TV , storgae and some display . I will advise against a frame TV since TVs need to be hung where the center of the screen is at eye level when seated and art is hung at eye l to the cener when you are standing so IMO a Frame TV is not going to fool anyone . This idea form Besta allows you to have a choice in TV size and still hang art where it belongs You can always just play the FP channel on your TV Gives you great storage and looks awesome

We had a fireplace in our last house and it was rarely used. Gave the husband the option to add one when this house was renovated and he said skip it. Allowed for a more open space and more glass.

Our TV room is grounded by a large vintage bureau (look at that grain match!) flanked by Ikea bookcases. Not particularly clever or original but it works

We did a 16 ft wide x 10 ft tall built-in with a 75" Samsung The Frame TV. The room also has 12 ft ceilings with beams and a chandelier ... definitely not bland!

We are in FL, so didn't really need a fireplace!

I agree windows are your answer. Fireplaces tend to be on outside walls. Natural ight and a great view are timeless.

Provide an adjacent outdoor living space to the living room and connect the spaces with windows, materials, strategically located door(s), and architectural features. Make a connection with the outdoors. Locate the TV elswhere.

Vote for frame TV. - a little low for art and a little high for TV viewing. Works fine and it is nowhere high like an above the fireplace TV. That being said, it isn't a focal point by itself. Good windows with something outside to look at is an option for a focal point.

This was the original layout that we were working with. Being on Long Island, in a town where we are built up 10' off our side property line, our outdoor views aren't the best lol.

That being said, we do have 10' ceilings, and nice windows; I like the idea of a built in, and have about 7.5' window to window to work with, coupled with a frame TV.

At that width you need not build in ANYTHING.

Buy something wonderful to sit below the tv. A sideboard, a beautiful cabinet, Keep the height to about 36 inches and no more.

Something about 72 inches wide, will be perfect.

Make the people in the room the focal point, and decorate accordingly.

Do you feel the same way about an electric fireplace? They are getting quite nice.

I prefer not to have a fireplace. It gives you more flexibility in arranging furniture. Make a focal point with artwork that you love.

The house we bought had a fireplace. I found it limiting and had the hearth removed and the firebox covered over. Now I have a beautiful wall on which I hang my favorite art and the furniture placement is much more versatile.

We have a TV in the room, but have it sitting on a lovely credenza so that viewing is comfortably at the correct angle rather than the usual "heads up" over the fireplace position.

No one has mentioned resale value. Of course it's your house but I don't understand why you wouldn't want to have a fireplace.

I think any future buyers would wonder the same thing. An FP is one of the top items on most buyers' wish list.

One idea is to match the design and finishes in the kitchen cabinets including the crown molding becoming a framing around an overall flat space against the wall. Like a large picture frame. The tv is very thin when mounted to take advantage of the thinness.

Simplify this idea further by using your crown as a frame for the tv. It'll be dramatic enough based on the art image you choose when the tv is off.
