There are so many options. The fireplace won't exist in a vacuum, so it depends on your style. Do you have furniture you're going to use in this room, or are you going to be buying new? Do you need to have a TV in this room? Since the floors are covered we don't know what those look like. I have a lot of fireplace pictures saved because I'm redoing mine next year. The FP is in such a prominent place in your room that anything permanent you do now will dictate all the rest of your furniture and decor choices. Were it my space I would first figure out how I'd most enjoy using this room, and then see how I felt about the fireplace.

I would not put the TV oppostie those windows with all their glare. I would not put mirrors in a space that has that much direct sunlight, and especially if all they are going to do is reflect the other side of the room. I would not put a fake tree in the shady corners of the room.

But obviously others would think it looks great!

You might not want to take this on right now, but I would love to see a plank ceiling on the slope with a stain the color of the handrail. Meantime, picture two mirrors replacing the windows in this inspiration photo.

Shiplap, not so sure that would be my pick, even if your going farmhouse. Taste changes every 10 years, at least for me. Pick a stone that works for most design styles, so that you have options in years to come.

I would paint the entire end wall Dark (even upstairs. it will highlight the railingand all.)

I personally would paint it SW Naval, but any deep rich color would be great. Iron Ore, SW Black Fox, Polished Mahagony, Urbane Bronze... whatever interests you.

Where your couch, chairs and tv are going will influence how you design the fireplace wall. The shared photos are all helpful - and the rooms they show are cohesive. Think about what you own, will buy and furniture placement.

Don’t rush. If this is a new house for you, give yourself time to figure out this large, important room.

Are you going to have a TV in the space? It seems like you could do a few things with the fireplace. If having a TV, you might consider placing in on the blank wall across from the windows. You could easily place book shelves on either side of the fireplace, consoles with art over them, or have 2 chairs flanking either side of the fireplace. There are a lot of things you could do to the fireplace area to make it stand out more and be more your own. Below are some fireplace areas.
