I‘m not sure why you are struggling. Why not just buy the chairs that are staged with the table?

Or similar... in another color, if you want. The chairs that they have staged with the table are a perfect style for this table and also work with MCM. They know what they are doing.

The chairs were not very comfortable. They were leather and I have tan leather countertop stools behind the table along the island, so was hesitant on whether I wanted leather dining chairs.

Last thing was they chair backs seemed higher then what I was thinking for the space and MCM asthetic.

I understand... if they were not comfortable that is an important consideration. But the shape and style of the chairs is fine for MCM. And the color is fine, too. You could get something similar in a fabric versus a leather.

The black looks good to me here. And your actual table is not quite this dark.

I think comfort is #1 for dining chairs - so nice to hang out around the table and chat, worth the investment to get something that will last

I have these from West Elm and love them. Everyone comments on how comfortable they are.

I'm rather liking this chair. It has clean, classic lines that I think would work well with your table.

The table is dark, so I like the idea of selecting a more open styled chair as @Denise Marchand shows, even if you opt to go with black.

sorry these are expensive but I don't think the chairs should have competing wood and if they have metal they need need an organic material, not plastic.

These also come in charcoal. Even though they are less money I think they have virtues in that they are not leather (since you said you didn't want leather) and the criss-cross base is fun with the entirely of your table.

Might matter too what you plan your light fixture to be.

Great table! Whatever you choose, either the chair legs or the upholstery should be the same color/finish/material as the table (or your floors). See how chair legs in photo below echo table and darker planks of wood floor. Those incredibly comfortable chairs BTW--Eero Saarinin original or quality copy of his Executive Chair-- would work beautifully with your table no matter what upholstery color or material you choose. Check out the reputation of companies that manufacture good copies of classic modern designs. That design has an armchair version as shown below or armless version for side chairs.

Totally disagree with housegal "rules"-- especially since you've bought such a contemporary table -- although it's certainly a nice chair if you want. If you are doing six of them at the table I think they are too bulky.

You mean like a mix and match? My intent is to run 3 chairs a side and leave the ends exposed as a baseline setup.

Do you think green would clash too much with the other strong colors in the open space? Would tan leather chairs be too matchy matchy with the sectional and counter stools?

It seems to pull some of the characteristics in many of the replies (matching color legs, organic like material “faux leather”, match to the blue tones of the island.

Depends on the green. I think an olive would be fine, a forest/pine/emerald/lime not so good!

If you're open to target I saw another Target chair I was going to recommend, and maybe I can find it again. The one you chose is fine if a little plain, but before you buy 6 onlne you really should take a look at the faux leather and see if it's acceptable with your table.

Do you recall what the other chair was? These are some that I found and liked. Thoughts on any of these?

These chairs are vintage but maybe it at least helps you picture the shape. I agree that dining room chairs have to be comfortable for at least an hour.
