I have an LFXS26596S /01 Fridge that was bought in Nov 2019. Its a standard-depth french door fridge with bottom freezer. It has the door-in-a-door feature.

Anyways, on Thursday I noticed water on the floor and on the in-door ice/water dispensing unit. The ice in the in door ice dispenser was thawing. Then I opened the freezer and the ice was melting there too. The food in the freezer was starting to thaw. At this time the fridge still seemed somewhat cool, but not as cool as you would expect.

Friday the freezer was completely warm, the fridge was getting warmer. I tried calling/chatting online with LG and got multiple answers but finally they said they put out a service request and I need to wait (up to 7 days!) for a service appt to be scheduled. I went out and bought a cheap 11 cubic ft fridge to keep in my garage. I moved all the food I could salvage to coolers (because the new fridge had to be laid down to transport and I was told to wait 24 hours before plugging in).

Sunday I got my new fridge up and running and moved everything to that. The LG fridge in the kitchen was very warm now and smelly.

Then suddenly on Sunday night i heard a humming in the kitchen, I opened the LG fridge and its cold! and the freezer made ice.

I'm kind of annoyed now because if I get a service appt, the fridge actually works at this moment.

Do you think this is the compressor? What might be the problem?

Thank you. I dont want to trust this LG fridge now because who knows when it might decide not to work again.
