First Home & Awkward Living Room Layout

I have a corner fireplace by a hallway opening and overall a very awkward living room design. I need help with living room sofa/seating layouts for the space.

The furniture is too close and too focus on the too high TV. The too big rug is making it look even closer. I think we need to see the wall behind the sofa.

Here are pictures behind the sofa.

Can you turn the sofa to face the window wall, with the two chairs opposite - and then put the larger chair angled in the window area? I agree that the tv is too high, maybe if you set it on the credenze instead of hanging from the wall it will look and function better.

Thanks for the ideas!! I agree with lowering the tv… I am looking at a smaller floating tv stand that I can mount lower to the floor & then lower the tv

I think this one of those times that a floor diagram with measurements is needed.

Flip the furniture - move the TV to the wall where the mirrored console tables are now and place the sofa on the wall to face it. Use the smaller chairs in the grouping with the larger rug, and shift the large chair to the window next to the fireplace. You can try using the console tables behind the sofa.

Frankly, it seems like this spot would be better for a dining table. Is swapping designated spaces an option?

This is a tricky space and a measured floorplan is important for useful advice. Include adjacent areas.

Unfortunately, the walkways through the room divide your seating areas.

IMO the TV has to be further away from the sofa than you currently have it located.

I didn’t even consider swamping the tv to the opposite wall but I like this layout!! Thanks so much, I will post a follow-up picture when I get my new sofa and decor in place!

Try the decor that over the FP horizontally. It really shouldn't be higher than the tops of the doors/windows.

Thanks to all the great advice, I have rearranged my space & traded some furniture pieces for newer ones. I am still updating the space but the space already feels makes so much larger!
