Ceiling spots and sconces bedside, maybe a center Chandelier

Can we see your style for the bedroom? I rarely like wall sconces for bedrooms but sometimes they work with a specific style.. Yes to removing the soffitts but it is going to be a big mess and all the elcerical work too. Are you keeping the carpet ? I think the reason for the soffits was that the bedside table and lamps were not doing much for lighting in that space .

I would recommend living in the house for 6 months before you go through the effort and expense of removing the soffits. Maybe you won't notice them so much after you get used to them, and the lighting might be nice to have.

To help with your decision, look into what you would be dealing with cost and electrical wise. Ideally, the room will look much better without.

I can’t see beams working with the ceiling’s shape, but here is another idea.

If budget is a factor, I’d get quotes and then decide on your priorities and overall needs. Are you redoing flooring, painting the walls/ceiling (not inexpensive), adding chandelier, window treatment, etc. If keeping, paint ceiling/walls the same light color.
