LVP vs water resistant engineered wood

I'm deciding between LVP and a waterproof engineered wood. I have 3 kids and a large dog so durability is important. Also, I will be selling within 5 years.

I was pretty dead set on having LVP installed for $7 per sqft until the dealer showed me a waterproof engineered wood for $8 per sqft. It's water resistant at the surface and seams (I left water on it for 3 days). It's also dent and scratch resistant. It feels like LVP tho due to the waterproof wear layer.

The color of the engineered wood looks great but not as great as the LVP. However, I noticed that wood looks better than LVP when viewed as while because there's no repeat. Each plank is unique.

Anyway, does water resistant engineered wood increase the value of a home? I'm moving in 5 years and will spend the extra money if I will get a better return.

The thing you've noticed, the repeat, is what gives lvp a lower value in most buyers eyes. If it's not noticeable it can get by. If the lvp is stripey and has a repeat you see, that's the least valuable. Color and tone do matter. Shop around for your engineered flooring. Silvan by Flooret is a direct sales source.
