What ideas? It's blah. It appears all the furniture jammed to a corner, so possibly not the best furniture arrangement. You don't need two paint colors on the walls. The wall needs art. We have no clue as to the style you are looking for in the space.

Start with more pictures, all angles, and best is to draw and measure the room, note all the feet and inches of everything. Walls, windows, openings passages, etc.

Hi Jackie, what would you like to do? What furniture would you like to keep? I think going for a different window dressing would make a lot of difference.

First, I don't care for the beige paint on the walls and would consider painting them a different color to bring more life into the room. I would replace the ceiling fan with a bigger one. I would also look for a different coffee table===possibly glass--- and replace that end table with another table or glass end table. I would also think about arranging the sectional in front of the fireplace rather than to the side of it. I like the floor lamp in the corner and the mirror over the fireplace. I would take most of the small nic-nacs off the mantel...less is more on the mantel. Possibly an area rug with more vivid colors in it. Also find some pillows for the couch with a little more punch.

Can you post more pictures of the room? I know you didn’t ask but there may be a better option for furniture placement.

50 shades of beige and dark room! I would bring some color with wall art above the sofa, accent pillows and curtains. Paint head bulk with the same color as ceiling or the same color as walls at least to bring some lightness and replace dated fan with nice chandelier.

This room looks 90% there. It is a calm, comfortable, coordinated space. You could use a larger rug under the sofa, pull it away from the wall a bit. New curtains, wall art. Paint the soffit the same as the walls. Clear the mantle and get a more interesting mirror, unless you love this one.

Please post more photos. Stand in the middle of the room and take pictures of all the walls.

Hi all, thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback! To put a little context behind it, we moved into this house about 6 months ago. We haven’t done anything to the living room yet, except for buy furniture. I am typically drawn to more neutral tones with pops of color, but I’m honestly open to any and all suggestions since I’m admittedly and not good at interior design and find that the amount of beige and browns tones are drowning out the space. The decor on the mantle is temporary and only there for thanksgiving, so I’m not committed too it. The entertainment center (picture below) Also came with the original house so I’m trying to work around that. The room is right off the kitchen and the front door and it often used for entertaining. I would like to replace the fans with light fixtures since after having been her a summer we didn’t use them at all and the house holds cool air well. I’m also wanting to do something with the window treatments, perhapsh raise them and add some color there. The sofa is positioned because of where the entertainment center is placed, but an open to moving it in a way that makes sense.

I agree! It’s actually built into the wall so no getting around it now. We may take it does, but that’s a project for a few years down the road.

I would paint the entertainment unit the same color as the wall.

Then I would see if it would work to reorient the couch toward the fireplace and put the TV over to the left of it on a swing arm with a console beneath. And hang art on the three panels of rhe entertainment center.

Rotate the Dining Table and move it closer to the Kitchen--so there is room in front of and to the right of the Fireplace for cozy seating to enjoy both the fire and the pretty view outdoors.

Pull the couch forward (towards the tv) and find a small inexpensive (glass) console to place a lamp on. Put it behind the couch with a lamp. Or two. (Buy colorful ones!)

I’m a rug person so I am going to suggest a more vibrant rug to make the furniture look less blah. I don’t know what size you have, but you can go bigger.

I wish your entertainment wall was in a den or basement game room. It’s way too “in your face” for a living room. Would you consider painting it?

It looks like you have an updated kitchen. That looks great!

The brown “ceiling stripe” around the room is terribly distracting and makes the area seem shorter. I would paint it the color of the ceiling as Celery suggested.

I think the furniture placement is all wrong. The tv should be moved to the fireplace wall. Then you can swing the sofa around to face the tv and fireplace.

I would paint the entertainment unit the same color as the walls. Also paint the stripe by the ceiling the same as the walls.

Get some new drapes and place them higher and wider than the windows.

Doesn’t look like the tv wall is wide enough for the sectional.

I recommend to replace the table to delicate and luxurious one

also painting above the sofa will bring more interest while staying in the room.
