Hi, we have a heavy glass sliding door going from the living room out to a wooden deck. We are building an ADU for my brother with Parkinson’s. It will have a connecting deck and we are trying to figure out the best way for him to be able to enter through our sliding door from the ouside deck. Currently it has no way to unlock from the outside and even if it did, it is very heavy and hard to open. Someone told me an automatic sliding door is the best solution. Has anyone converted an existing slider using the Autoslide mechanism? Or have experience putting in an automatic slider in a residential project (as opposed to commercial)? This is in the San Francisco bay area. Open to other suggestions too.
