Convert propane fireplace pit table to ethanol?

I lit this fire pit a few times when it was new, but have not in years due to the hassle of the propane.
Maybe the tank and hoses have deteriorated after nearly 10 years and may no longer be safe to use.
Can this be converted to ethanol, or do I need a new fire pit table?
Is ethanol easier to deal with for infrequent use?
