Help improve our kitchen design!!!

We would like some ideas to help improve our kitchen design.

Our current state of kitchen are shown in real photos. Vision of the kitchen is shown via the IKEA kitchen design. We plan to knock down the 2 walls in-between to have an open concept area.

Couple of things that we feel strongly about:

1. We want the island to sit 5 to 6 pax.
We are ok to not have an actual dining table instead, we would have a small round table that sits 4. In the design it shows a circle and that would be where we will place the round table. (Note that the circle is drawn bigger than what we want and we can't modify it)

2. We would like to have the sink, dishwasher and stove on the side of the wall.

3. The cabinets around the fridge should be flushed (Note that the design does not accurately reflect what we want)

4. We would not be resizing the big window and we will not be adding a new window above the sink.

5. There is an existing smaller window that will be closed out to have the stove in there.

We need a to scale floor plan as it is now all windows doorways where those lead every measurement clearly marked done on graph paper posted here in jpeg format in a comment DO NOT start another post . On that drawing mark which walls are going to be removed . In a comment tell us have you already hadan engineer tell you waht you need to do to remove the walls .BTW no room for chairs where you show the round table Why french doors at all in this space sliders just make more sense.

You have two sets of french doors. Can you eliminate one set?

So I just realised the IKEA draft layout is incorrect. The "door" near the circle is actually a double window so it does not interfere with the interior space.

What is the aisle width (measured counter to counter/appliance handle) between the island and sink/range wall?

The positioning of the island really cuts into the living room space. The LR is 137” wide (outer wall to island cabinet) before taking into account the space needed for the island chairs to be pulled in/out and to maintain the traffic path between the island and LR. You will be left with a very narrow LR which may limit furniture placement.

The round table for four is in an awkward spot. The ~6’ width is not sufficient to fit the table and chairs while allowing adequate room for the chairs to be pulled in/out.

Hi, the aisle width is 60" which we can provide shorten it to 50" so the chairs when pull out from the island, don't cut into the LR.

As for the round table, yes we do feel that it's awkward. Wondering if it makes sense for a 47"L by 23" W table insead adjacent to the window?

Does the wall with the french doors have the dishwasher then sink then range? If so no way that will work. It looks like there is only 15 inches of counter space on each side of the range. Is this correct? If so that also only leaves you 15 inches to prep next to the sink.

    YYYYY

Yes you're right. 15" of counter space on each side of stove.

We were thinking that the island can be used for prepping. Is that a realistic idea?

You just don't have enough room for BOTH the island and the table AND the pantry/beverage wall. Try putting some chairs around that table, there is no way! Similarly, I would suggest dropping some couches in your 3d sketch and see how you would arrange the living room -- again keeping in mind you need a wide aisle around the stools for sitting and passing.

Regroup and think about combining kitchen and dining (not the whole shebang).

The "door" near the circle is actually a double window so it does not interfere with the interior space.

Can the window be made higher so you could put a counter there?

Right now your layout does NOT work at all.

No because one preps next to a water source.
