What I am missing is a searchable database of horticultural images. For example, I have a need for a yellow dwarf conifer shrub that I can plant at a precise location in my garden. The entry for a particular cultivar should also show seasonal color changes, plus provide pertinent horticultural info like hardiness, sunlight, water, etc.

Perhaps that's what landscaping software already offer, albeit only in part.

In the same vein, I understand that Houzz was invented because of a desire to design your home interiors with the help of images > something like that to design your garden with the help of images :-)

Virginia Tech (my alma mater) had/has a searchable tree database used in their classes. Many of these databases seem to have been neglected or gotten much harder to use over the years.

I find the one linked very helpful even though the USDA zones on it are on the cold side.

Oregon State has a pretty good database.

That one from OSU is 'okay' but no growing conditions mentioned, ph, sand/clay, moisture etc.

Lots of non-pertinent information about the plant, like 'only fir native to Canada' and stuff like that.

We need information about the particular plant! ;-)
