We decided that we wanted to replace the old tile in our kitchen with something new. I embarked on the project thinking i'd just remove the old tile, put up the new and DONE! Well, it hasn't gone as planned - who'd have guessed?!?!

Taking the old tile off also removed tons of drywall, no matter what i tried - - so i decided to screw it, remove the drywall wholesale and put new in... Then come to find that they tiled far enough behind the hood that the hood needed to come off the wall... Once off the wall, we liked how it opened up the space, so we've decided on a more direct venting method. I'm going to put exhaust fans in the ducting for the old hood fans, and then i found a very creative thing online that will make it blend in and you won't hardly notice the fans... and then put 2 lights in for the cooktop.

So to the root of my question - I'm knowledgeable enough to be dangerous, but i want to make sure i do this right.

As seen in the attached photo, i have a direct wire running to the old hood. I'd like to split this off to "A" in order to put in a switch for both the fans and the lights...

So, i'm thinking I need a junction box in the wall at "B" in order to run wire to "A" to put the switches in... then run two wires back over toward the junction box and up the wall to the lights and fans. (the existing wire is behind box "B")

Question 1.) is that correct?

Question 2.) the fans i ordered come with 3-prong plugs. So, do I cut the plugs off and direct wire them to the switch, or do i put in an outlet box inside the wall to plug them into?

Anything else i'm missing? or should be doing?
