what floor to go with a busy backsplash??

Hello,

I am remodeling my master bath, complete demolition and re-do. My shower walls, all countertops and backsplash will be very busy veiny quartz slabs (see photo). Vanities will be a light white oak (see photo). My dilemma is what floor tile to install. I don't want the floors to be competing with the quartz and it be too much movement.

I am considering large format tiles (to avoid grout lines):

- wood look

- grey concrete look

- light grey porcelain look

We are creating a wet room with a freestanding tub inside the walk-in shower. For my 66" freestanding tub, I am not sure if I should go with a matte or glossy finish.

Can I get some input from the community? I cannot decide! Thanks in advance.

The 2" white hex flooring in your vanity photo seems nice and calm. Get a light colored grout to avoid busy lines and it should look very nice.

If you want to go darker, a blue gray like the veins in the quartz would be stunning. I don't think that bathroom floors necessarily have to be light. And if you have room a beautiful rug. Otherwiser, white or the gray in the quartz large format

Is this a bathroom with a shower? Post all materials being used including shower tile, curb material, etc

Yes, it wil be a wet room with freestanding tub inside a walk-in shower. Quartz slabs for all shower walls, countertops and backsplash.

Btw, for my freestanding tub, I am considering a black 66" tub (instead of the common white tubs everyone uses). Black hardware as well. What are your thoughts on the black vs. white tub?

water spots, all the time, especially inside the shower. stick with white.

Big no to a black tub. Too modern farmhouse/fad so not timeless and it would definitely be a negative if you ever plan to sell. Day to day, black surfaces show fingerprints and dust plus water spots since you're opting for the tub inside the shower. A white tub isn't common, it's classic.

If you can post a single photo of the elements you’ve selected, you will get more floor tile ideas. Small format tiles can work with your busy walls if the grout matches the tile color. A dark colored tile with dark grout will give the same feel and could be more dramatic. Keep in mind that dark floors are harder to keep clean.

Black tubs aren’t popular for a reason - they are a PIA. It’s too much work to keep them looking good when not in use (which is 23 hours a day). You are planning a wet room. Keep it as simple to clean as possible.

Have you looked at medium to dark blue tiles? The right ones can complement the busier tiles (which are beautiful).
