For me, a 6' deep front porch isn't that useful. I don't think several chairs lined up in a row, in a narrow space, is a nice way to spend time with family/friends.

I would wire for a couple of fans, cap it off and then see if you will actually use the space before spending money on fans. Good quality outdoor fans should need little to no maintenance, other than cleaning them once in a while.

We have outdoor fans on two covered porches (PA) for the past 20 years. We replaced them once for cosmetic reasons. no problems at all.
