I say it's an opportunity! First of all, you don't have to have everything match in the room and this will provide interest as well as differentiate the makeup area. I can't help but use a chandelier to add glamour and sparkle to any bathroom, especially an ensuite. And a dedicated makeup area sounds like the perfect place for just such an accent. However, if you are opposed to this and looking to have something that will actually provide good lighting for applying makeup, something with diffused light would work well (like the tube lights shown above - coincidentally also available at Restoration Hardware!) It can be mounted horizontally above the mirror if you don't have room for two sconces.
