Have you already gotten quotes from a couple of local glass door contractors?

I have not. I wanted to figure out the type of door I wanted first. I thought a pivot door and frameless glass, but I thought someone might know of something that could cut my costs.

The local glass people will be able to measure and figure out what kind of installation is practical. You have a large shower: the door will be quite heavy. Frameless doors have limits to their sizes. If you ask for less expensive options, they may have a range of things to suggest. If the quotes aren't doable now, you could install a simple shower curtain for a while until you are ready.

A less expensive option than frameless glass is, of course, framed glass. Match the finish on the shower fixtures.

If you get sliding doors, then you can open on the shower side to turn on the water, and get in from that end as well. The doors can be frameless, although they need tracks of some sort.

It should also be possible to use a swinging door with a narrow fixed panel on the shower side, possibly one on each side? depends on the size of the opening.

Glass enclosures have doors that swing into the shower, thereby not hitting the nearby toilet. I’ve been in several hotels with that feature. Call a glass company, or two, and get their ideas.
