Table lamp with glass and aluminum base

I saw a table lamp from Ethan Allen that I like. However, its $670 (on sale for $536). It has a glass and nickel base. I don't want to spend that much and found one similar at half of the price. However, it's made of glass and aluminum. Is aluminum an OK metal for a table lamp. The second one is from Ethan Allen

One is gold/bronze and the others are chrome. Is chrome going to work with your decor? I couldn't bring myself to spend over $500 on a lamp either. :-)

I actually like the second choice. For a couch for instance it’s important to consider good construction, but a lamp does not get any wear and tear. Think what you can add to the room with the money you saved.

Aluminum is excellent. And there's only a tiny chance that the EA one is actually nickel.
