If you do Origami White everywhere, then you need to pay for the cabinets to be the same color. I think if you use a brighter white for the cabinets, a white which isn't different enough, it is going to make the Origami White look old/dirty/dingy.

Did you order the larger paint samples? Can you wait until the house is framed out to make the final paint color decision? Best when you can bring larger sample board to compare in the actual space and its unique orientation and daylight.

I ended up with a much brighter white for my cabinets once I tested them in my framed out north facing kitchen. The other whites looked dingy in the north facing kitchen. I then used that same white for all my trim, doors, crown and ceilings. My walls are a different color.

If you want to use one color for everything, why not SW Snowbound? Or do they offer SW Pure White?

Origami White is as light as I’d like to go. The cabinets are one of the first things that need to be ordered though we just barely broke ground. I can ask if the actual paint color also needs to be decided. Perhaps it’s the construction of the cabinets that needs to start soon, but the color may be able to wait a bit longer.

Our kitchen, living, dining and master all face east.

I actually like that little bit of contrast and both are warm whites for sure.

On SW's website they describe Origami White as having a violet undertone. Have you looked at the SW whites in large samples? You really don't get a good idea what any color looks like on multiple walls by looking at a paint chip. If I were you I would use Snowbound or Pure White throughout. Pure White would be my top choice. In any case, I think Origami White is not a good color for trim. At some point you will want a different wall color and Origami is darker than trim usually is and then there is that violet undertone . . .

That’s a good point about future wall color(s)! Though from everything I read, SW says there’s violet undertones, but every review has said it’s not visible nor have I seen it in the sample I have.

Does anyone have any experience in mixing those two colors?

The actual paint color Snowbound is a color of white. It's light enough and neutral enough to fit in this category.

Origami is a Light Near Neutral. It's not white or off white because it's too dark.

Assuming the cabinets are close to the same color as Snowbound: Snowbound and Origami go together because they're from the same hue family range - they literally relate. And there's a comfortable difference in both Value and Chroma which means there is a margin of contrast between the two. That's a good thing as well.

It's just a matter of 1) how they show up in your space and 2) if you like how they look together and if you want to deal with a Light Near Neutral on trim.

I need to get out my soapbox for the undertones portion of your question.....

AW told me that there is violet and maroon in snowbound which can give violet undertones coming through in certain lighting. I do not see it in my house.

I didn’t actually. I went with Drift of Mist color drench bc that was another color the cabinet company had as a “stock” color. Incredibly happy with it. I bet origami will be beautiful too. Good luck!
