I would do a L sectional on the 8' 9" and 13' 10" wall. Then put the tv on the 4" 10" wall. I don't think you have room for a chaise.

I think you could also do a sofa and loveseat or a sofa and chair with the above layout.

You could add a coffee table and end table if you go with sofa/loveseat/chair. It is nice to have a place for drinks, etc.

My tv is 54 inches so it would just about fit but cutting it close !

You might be able to find a sectional that would fit the 13' 10" and 4'10" wall and put the tv on the 8' 9". Maybe place the sectional at the start of the windows so to leave room to get into the bedroom. The sectional would be more floating.

You could put a plant in the corner behind the floating sectional under the air conditioner. You would want to have about three feet behind the sectional to leave room to get into the bedroom.

It's brutally tight no matter where!!!!!

IMO the comfort factor when entertaining with a sectional in this space is zero.

What about a sofa on the window wall, with the TV on the stair wall. Maybe a chair or 2 across from the sofa and possibly a chair on the 4'10" wall.

Look at how nice this is. This sofa comes in 72" as well as 88". You'd go for the 72".

I admit to anti- sectional bias, but the smaller the room, thd more I think a sectional is very limiting EXCEPT for a small media room that isn’t cut up by a lot of doorways. And I’d furniture is mostly for racking back & watching the TV.

I think your bd better off with sofa and chair or chairs plus the concept of bringing in a dining chair, folding chair; having a modestly sized ottoman that can be moved around, or a rustic coffee table you can put feet on. You’re more likely to have a greater number of options for size, fabrics & comfort levels than what’s offered as sectionals. Now if when you say you “ like to entertain “ you primarily mean having people over to watch the TV ( whether shows, movies, sports) and then maybe , but, guests are not as likely to want to cram all together on a sectional, as compared to families that specifically aim to snuggle with kiddos.

I would put the TV on the stair wall. Wall mount it for a cleaner look over a long low credenza below it (make sure the TV is mounted low on the wall). Then run an extra long but not overly deep sofa under the window. One small scale swivel lounge maybe - but no big coffee table.
Tough space.

The problem? As with 99% , they want to sit directly facing tv and prefer couch to chair.

This space, wherever it is? Does not deserve a "living room" label on a paper floor plan, let alone in practice.

I’ve always been a fan of 4 chairs around an ottoman or coffee table. Done it a few times for clients and they all love it.

I would do a small size sofa and two swivel chairs. Keep in mind you don't want anything bulky. Keep things streamed line.

Look at apartment sized furniture.

I never use small furniture as it's uncomfortable and tiny furniture makes the room look tiny too. Use less pieces and have your main seating wrap around the room. Keep the sofa classic modern with a lower back and not too puffy.

The table behind the sofa can accommodate a lamp and accessories with art above. Locate the TV on the stair wall, as I feel looking towards the bedrooms is too busy with all the doors and openings.

Consider a lush window treatment ceiling to floor and a full room area rug.

Sectionals are not great for entertaining unless they are gigantic. People just don't feel comfortable sitting knee to knee on them so close to the people on the other side of the L. Tape out on the floor the measurements for a sofa under the windows and one or two chairs across. Tape out a TV on the staircase wall. And yes, this is a living room by nature of the fact that this is the common space they entertain guests in and watch TV. It is awkward, but most of us have to settle for working around the limitations of our homes.
