Have any local stores? Our local seed store gets leeks starts along with onions.

Never seen them locally I wish I did! I can call around in spring but not likely. I might just bite the bullet and pay shipping. We love leeks and use them a lot.

Dixondale has leeks, but you'll get killed on shipping. You could get in touch with them and see what local stores get shipments. Our local nursery gets a big crate of Dixondale onion plants (several varieties) every year. I get a bunch for just a few bucks. But I don't think they get leeks.

They're available locally here in the spring with the rest of the vegetable starts. I quit trying from seed long ago -- takes much too long, I can get the starts for a couple bucks and boom I'm done.

Oh bummer. Maybe if you ask early enough they'll order some?

A couple nurseries here sell Leeks in the "Herb" section in one pot, then you pull them apart and plant bare root. Sometimes I see them in the veggie 3 or 4 pack, not real common but you can find them, mostly end up planting bare root.

At least one place here sells Dixondale Lancelot leek plants as well as 8 or 10 types of DD onions. I think they charged $3.50 a bunch last year.

I don't understand how they could take up a lot of room under your lights. I can grow ~50-60 in a 2 lb. yogurt container.
